Our history

The East Prince Women's Information Centre opened November 10th, 1984.  A group of women from Summerside established the Centre with the priority of addressing the unmet needs of women of East Prince County.

Purpose and Goals

Dedicated to Serving Our Community

Purpose

The Centre's purpose is to support change in the Status of Women, promote gender equality, and encourage full and equal participation in the social, political, legal, health and economical sphere of daily life in the community.

The Centre's objectives are to provide resources, referrals and programs that advance and support women and girl issues.  We sponsor current activities designed to reflect the needs of women.

We provide mentoring, peer support, workshops, facilitation, public information sessions, education and awareness programs, volunteering and networking opportunities.

Goals

  1. Serve as an information and referral service for community resources
  2. Provide mentors for women and girls
  3. Provide resources required for women to enhance their employability skills
  4. Provide resources for women seeking access to Justice and Legal Services for PEI Family Law
  5. Provide resources for EPWIC clientele to maintain healthy lifestyles
  6. Provide resources for social media safety and digital leadership instruction

Volunteer ... Get Involved

Working with the Centre provides women and girls with a voice for social change.  We have partnered with many companies, community groups and organizations to help bring the community together on issues of importance to women and families.  Volunteers are eligible to sit on our Board of Directors.
